DETENTION PROGRAMS
DETENTION PROGRAMS
The Detention Center Programs Unit provides opportunities for individuals in custody to participate in programs designed to support personal growth, accountability, and successful reentry into the community.
By offering a variety of educational, vocational, faith-based, wellness, substance use disorder, mental health, and life-skills programs, we aim to address many of the factors that can contribute to repeated involvement in the criminal justice system.

These programs are intended to encourage positive decision-making, build practical skills, support recovery and emotional well-being, and help reduce recidivism by better preparing participants for life after release.

Multiple program areas are available through the Detention Center Programs Unit, each focused on meeting different needs and supporting a safer, more productive future for participants and the community. Information about the specific programs can be found under the Programs menu dropdown.

Sheriff Paula Dance is dedicated to stopping the revolving door between the community and the correctional system by meeting individuals where they are and giving them the tools needed to reenter society and stay there as a successful contributor. Early in her first term in office, she founded her signature S.H.A.R.P. (Sheriff's Hope and Recovery Program) and W.E.A.R. (Women's Empowerment and Recovery) programs. Watch the short video below to see the impact through the eyes of two of our many success stories.
