THE SHERIFF'S S.U.M.M.E.R. YOUTH CAMP
S.U.M.M.E.R. Camp
Each summer the Pitt County Sheriff's Office hosts a camp for local youth called, S.U.M.M.E.R. Camp (Sheriff's Understanding, Monitoring, Mentoring, Educating, & Rewarding). The camp lasts for five weeks and is staffed by school resource officers and volunteers.
Each week focuses on an interesting theme and includes a field trip to an exciting location. The camp consists of classroom based learning activities, outdoor activities, games, and exercises. Special visitors also make presentations that often involve interactive events/crafts. S.U.M.M.E.R. Camp is a learning and social experience, fitness promotion, and character building program. The camp's location changes to a different Pitt County School every year.
