Oath of office to be administered upon graduation from Basic Law Enforcement Training along with a raise to $55,641/year.  Under general supervision, performs law enforcement work to protect the lives, property and rights of citizens of the county. Work involves serving legal papers, attending court, answering complaint calls and patrolling the county in an official vehicle to deter crime or apprehend violators or suspects. May be assigned as a K-9 handler. Reports to a Sergeant. Once promoted to a sworn Deputy Sheriff role, this position has pay grades of Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced/Master based on state certificate awards.

Social Worker II (Pitt County Detention Center) - 
$53,091-$83,912 (67/1)

 

Under general supervision of the Sheriff or the Sheriff’s designee, this General Population Social Worker II position is responsible for providing intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases which require the flexible use of a wide range of social work practice skills and intervention techniques. Work may involve providing in-depth assessment of individuals and family dynamics and needs, intervention and treatment planning.   Work may involve training and modeling to direct supervision staff.  The social worker will work closely with medical personnel and detention center staff to develop treatment plans and discharge plans for community re-entry and will also assist in aftercare follow-up with individuals. The discharge planning and aftercare follow-up involves coordinating with a variety of community-based service providers and criminal justice personnel. 
The Social Worker II will work closely with the Programs Coordinator and the Social Worker II at the detention center (e.g., interviewing offenders, reviews records and compiles social summary reports as needed or assigned) for those incarcerated individuals who are not in specialized programs and make proper referrals to the appropriate staff within the facility. Write reports, collect and correlate data as needed to include classification data, admission summaries, risk assessments and security designation forms. Communicate with offender’s families and others with inquiries concerning status and treatment progress of offenders. Conduct group psycho-education classes such as parenting skills, basic life skills, healthy relationships, etc. Coordinate activities with other service and education providers working in the specialized unit of the detention center.  Other related duties as assigned and directly related to special populations or the General Population at the detention center.

$53,091/year with no experience.  $55,641/year once you obtain the state certification that we provide and pay for.  If you have a current certification and experience, contact us to discuss starting pay potential.  Under regular supervision, performs specialized law enforcement work in the care and security of inmates in the County Detention Center. Work involves admitting and booking inmates, preparing inmates for transport to court or medical facilities, feeding inmates, and supervising inmate activity. Work also involves preparing various reports and logs, conducting periodic searches, maintaining security, and counseling and advising inmates as needed. Employee is also responsible for operating computer and control center panels for surveillance. Reports to a Lieutenant or Sergeant. This position has pay grades of Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced/Master based on state certificate awards.

$48,341/year with no experience.  Pay raise once you obtain the state certification that we provide and pay for.  If you have a current certification and experience, contact us to discuss starting pay potential.  Under general supervision, a full-time telecommunicator performs specialized radio & communications work in the Sheriff's Office, serving as radio dispatcher on an assigned shift. Work involves receiving emergency and non-emergency incoming calls, dispatching applicable personnel, and operating a computer terminal to enter data on stolen vehicles, missing persons, etc., and to retrieve information for Sheriff's Deputies. Work also includes preparing a variety of reports, producing criminal histories, responding to inquiries from general public, locating deputies and transmitting information, and performing a variety of clerical duties as needed. Reports to the Communications Supervisor. This position has pay grades of Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced/Master based on state certificate awards.​

Internships
