Teacher Charged with Indecent Liberties with a Student

On January 27, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sarah Elizabeth Holmes, DOB:  3/18/1989 of Masters Lane in Greenville. Holmes turned herself in to authorities at the Pitt County Detention Center.

The investigation began on November 18, 2011 after detectives received information concerning an inappropriate relationship between a female teacher and a male student at North Pitt High School. The male student turned 17 years old during the time of the relationship.

Holmes is charged with Felony Indecent Liberties with a Student.  Her bond is set at $5,000 unsecured.

Sex Offender Found Living Too Close To A School

 

Three sex offenders have been arrested, and one is still at-large after a routine address check by detectives with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. 

 

Lavelle Burney, 27, of 643 Wall Street in Grifton;  Tevin Holloway, 18, 707 Club Drive in Greenville; and Ronald Anthony Brown, 52, of 2700 South Mill Street in Winterville have been charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  Brown is also charged with Residential Restriction as a Sex Offender.  After locating Brown, his new, unregistered residence was too close to a school.

 

All were taken to the Pitt County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.

Multiple Agencies Work Together On Drug Bust

 

On December 6, the narcotics investigators with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office and agents with  the Alcohol Law Enforcement assisted the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit with an investigation and search at the home of John Dewan Smallwood, 607 West 13th Street of Washington. 

 

Investigators and a Beaufort County K-9 discovered 1,073 grams of cocaine, two dosage units of Ecstasy, $23,000 cash, a double barrel sawed-off shotgun, and a 25 caliber pistol.

 

Arrested at the scene, Smallwood is charged with Trafficking in Cocaine; Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine; Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep a Controlled Substance; Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance;Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 

Smallwood is in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000,000.00 secured bond.

Multiple Agencies Make 10 Arrests with 71 Charges

 

On November 30, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Ayden Police Department, and the United States Marshall Service Violent Fugitive Task Force of Eastern North Carolina arrest 10 suspects involving multiple drug charges

 

A total of 71 charges were served as a result of a long time investigation ranging from trafficking in cocaine to failure to appear for court.

 

Tony Terell Carmon, DOB:  1/24/1983 of Arden; 3 counts Trafficking Cocaine;  $5,000 secured bond.

 

Khalif Levar Harper Sr., DOB:  4/25/1977 of Ayden;  PWISD Cocaine;  $30,000 secured bond.

 

Waddy Nathan Agnew, DOB: 3/13/1971 of Ayden;   3 counts PWISD Cocaine, Sell Cocaine, Deliver Cocaine;  $50,000 secured bond.

 

Dennis James Whitaker, DOB: 1/23/1982 of Ayden;  3 counts PWISD Cocaine, Sell Cocaine, Deliver Cocaine, 1 count PWISD Marijuana;  $40,000 secured bond.

 

Jaquilla Devon Wallace,  DOB:  5/16/1978  of Grifton;  PWISD Cocaine;  $10,000 secured bond.

 Xavier Akeam Howard, DOB:  4/9/1990 of Ayden;  4 Counts PWISD Cocaine, Sell Cocaine, Deliver Cocaine;  $75,000 secured bond.

Samuel Ward, PWISD Cocaine (No Further Information Available at this time.)

Travis Leavil Daniels, DOB:  7/8/1980 of Greenville;  3 Counts PWISD Cocaine, Sell Cocaine, Deliver Cocaine, Fail to appear DWLR, Fail to appear Assault on Female, Fail to appear DWI, Fail to appear Drug paraphernalia;  $69,300 secured bond.

Janeil Lamar Furr, DOB:  1/5/1977 of Greenville;  2 counts PWISD Cocaine, Sell Cocaine, Deliver Cocaine, Fait to appear 2 counts Communicating Threats, Fail to appear Public consumption, Fail to appear Resisting public officer, Fail to appear second degree trespass, Fail to appear Drug paraphernalia;  $60,000 secured bond.

Benjamin Coy Lisk, DOB:  10/20/1983 of  Greenville;  Possess Heroin, Possess Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possess Schedule III controlled substance;  $15,000 secured bond.

The investigation is on going and more arrests are pending.  All remain in the Pitt County Detention Center.

Ring Leader in Human Trafficking Organization Arrested
  
On October 28, a ring leader  in the Human Trafficking organization in Eastern North Carolina, Oscar Salinas-Rodriguez, DOB:  9/12/1974, was arrested after a search warrant was executed at a brothel house at 5770 Highway 264 East in Greenville that he operated. This prostitution operation is part of a larger criminal organization. 

After an on-going investigation by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, a female victim from Western North Carolina was identified and rescued.  She had been promised a cleaning job, but when she arrived, she was forced to engage in sex labor.
 
The victim had been held at the brothel for approximately one week.  Case workers with the Salvation Army are currently working with this victim to identify any victim service needs she may have.
 
Kenia Susana Valdez-Gomez, DOB:  4/24/1965, of Brooklyn, NY and Jose Machado Castro, DOB:  5/31/1991, of Wilson were also arrested and charged with  Solicit for Prostitution.  Both are in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond. 
 
Salinas-Rodriguez is charged with Sexual Servitude Adult Victim, and remains in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond, as well as an immigration detainer.
The operation involved numerous partners of the Pitt County Human Trafficking Task Force to include the Salvation Army and ICE (Immigration, Customs Enforcement)
