Weekend Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

At 12:25p.m. on May 26, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Dollar General on Hwy. 33 East in Greenville.

At 12:18p.m., a customer entered the Dollar General and later covered his face with a bandana and demanded money.  With a knife in each hand, he demanded money several times from the cashier and the manager, but fled the scene before they complied.

Deputy Coley was near the area when the call came in and was on the scene quickly.  After receiving information that the suspect had fled on foot to the wooded area behind the Dollar General, Deputy Coley began a search of the neighborhood on Britt Road.

The search resulted in the juvenile suspect being apprehended.  The suspect had changed clothes in the woods and his clothes were found.

A juvenile petition for robbery with a dangerous weapon was obtained and a secured custody order was issued.  He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Facility.
