Arrested for Opiates

On January 11, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested Sally Anita Rogers, DOB:  2/18/1976, of 2583 Old #4 Road, Whittier, NC after a tip lead to an investigation into the trafficking of prescription pain pills.

As a result of the investigation, Rogers’ vehicle was stopped at Black Jack-Simpson Road and Avon Road.  A search of the vehicle revealed 100 oxycodone pills with a street value of $3,000.

A 9mm handgun that was concealed in a secret compartment and more than $5,000 was also seized.

“These commonly prescribed prescription pain killers are derived from opium, the same plant material used to create heroin,” explained Sheriff Neil Elks.  “These opium-based medications are highly addictive, and once the user is addicted, they will take great measures to get their needed fix making this a big business for the dealer.”

Rogers is charged with two counts of trafficking in opiates by possession; trafficking in opiates by transport; and carrying a concealed weapon.  She was transported to the Pitt County Detention Center and placed under a $200,000 secured bond.

Rogers also has similar pending charges in Jackson County, NC and is awaiting trial on those charges.

A mug shot is available by calling the Pitt County Detention Center.
