Five Arrests in Grimesland Robbery


The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office has made five arrests in the attempted armed robbery and shooting which took place last week in a Grimesland mobile home park.


In the early hours of September 10, deputies responded to a shooting at the intersection of Ariel Drive and Silverado Drive in Grimesland.  A group attempted to rob a juvenile on the car at the intersection.  The driver of the vehicle accelerated to avoid being robbed.


One of the offenders’s shot into the vehicle that contained four people during the attempted robbery. A 15 year male was shot and transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital by personal vehicle with non life threatening injuries. 


After an extension investigation, Hakiem Leangelo Ruffin of 4728 Ariel Drive, Grimesland;  Armani Newkirk of 4779 Ariel Drive, Grimesland;  Christopher Marquette Williams of 4707 Hannia Court, Grimesland;  and Talaya Lucas of 4708 Hannia Court, Grimesland  have been arrested and charged with Assault With A Deadly Weapon With Intent To Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle Causing Serious Injury Attempted, Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and  Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.


A 15 year old male has also been taken into custody and placed in Pitt Juvenile Regional Detention Facility for the his involvement in the incident.
