June 30, 2011 Deputies seize $127,500 in marijuana plants

 $127,500 of Marijuana Plants Recovered 

On June 30, detectives with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit received information in regards to the location of possible marijuana plants.

 

When the detectives arrived at 6409 NC 43 North in Fountain, 51 Marijuana plants were discovered.

 

James Whitley, DOB: 2/2/1983, which was at the residence at the time of seizure, was arrested.  Bennie Whitley, DOB:  9/10/1953, the owner of the residence and father of James, was arrested at the Pitt County Detention Center later that evening.

 

Both are charged with two counts of Trafficking Marijuana, and are currently under a $50,000 secured bond.

 

The street value of the plants is $127,500.
