Suspect Shot After Breaking into a Home

 

On June 29, Reginald Watson, Jr. DOB:  1/25/91, of 8819 Prison Camp Road, Robersonville was shot in the chest and leg after breaking into an occupied home.

 

Around 1:20 a.m., the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a burglary.  Kimberly Spell, DOB: 2/3/64; Oliver Atkinson, DOB: 1/28/56; Wayne Buck, DOB: 7/7/51; and Albert Atkinson, DOB: 10/15/33 of 217 River Road Estates Road, Greenville were all in the residence when two black males busted in the front door. One of the intruders, Watson, had a black revolver in his hand.

 

At some point after the intrusion, Albert Atkinson was able to retrieve a handgun from another room.  Once Watson saw Albert Atkinson with the gun, he pointed his revolver at him.  Several shots were fired. 

 

Both intruders then fled out of the front door.

 

Watson later showed up at Pitt County Memorial Hospital with gunshot wombs to the chest and leg.

 

After he was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with First-degree Burglary, and Felony - Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.  Watson is in the Pitt County Detention Center under $300,000 secured bond.

 

The PCSO is still investigating the identity of the second suspect.
