Pitt County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshall’s Violent

Fugitive Task Force Work Together

Career Criminal Arrested

 

On March 31, the US Marshall’s Violent Fugitive Task Force with the assistants of the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office arrested Anthony Leon Cannon, DOB:  4/1/1969 of 4106 Bridge Court, Greenville.   

 

In September, 2010, the PCSO began investigating Cannon for defrauding people and companies.  The investigation revealed a history of fraud, usually carried out through his self-employed construction business. 

 

Cannon is in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $512,000 bond charged with the following:

  • Felony Worthless Check (2 counts)
  • Obtaining Property by False Pretense (3 counts)
  • Assault Inflecting Serious Bodily Injury (1 count)
  • Common Law Robbery (1 count)
  • Obtaining Property by False Pretense (3 Counts)
  • Criminal Summons for worthless check
  • Misdemeanor Probation Violation (2 counts)
  • Felony Probation Violation (2 counts)
  • FTA for worthless checks (4 Counts)
  • FTA for Obtain Property by Worthless Check (2 Counts)

 

Cannon is also listed as a Probation Absconder by the NC Probation Parole. Currently, Cannon is on 24 months supervised probation for felony conviction of obtaining property by false pretenses.  To sum up, Cannon has a criminal history of this type of crimes, as well as others.

 

The investigation is on-going into further fraud incidents by Cannon.  Cannon’s modus operandi (method) of defrauding people is to not complete work or to write a check that is on a bad or closed account.  If anyone suspects that they may have been a victim of Cannon’s deceit, please contact Detective W.B.
