Senior Check Program

Our Senior Check Program is a free service to homebound seniors 60 years of age and older. Let us check on your senior!

This is a partnership between the Sheriff's Office, fire/rescue departments, and the Pitt County Council on Aging.    Pitt County Senior Check is a free service offered by our Office to allow elderly citizens to feel confident and safe while maintaining their independence by living in their own homes.  We realize many senior citizens live alone and may not have a family member living locally.  We do not want to replace any contacts with family or friends; we simply are offering an added source of knowing there is someone who will be checking on them.

How does it work?

Volunteers with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office will make calls every day between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.  If the participant fails to answer the phone, the volunteer would contact the Sheriff’s Office for a deputy and EMS to be dispatched immediately.

What if I need to be away from home?

No problem, just call the program coordinator and let them know the period to stop the calls.

 Who is Eligible?

Homebound Seniors 60 years of age and older who live in Pitt County.
