Breaking and Entering Suspects Detained at the Scene

At 9:20a.m. on September 21, deputies with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a breaking and entering in progress on Toddy Road in Farmville.

The caller, Mia Edwards, 46, locked herself and her granddaughter in an upstairs bedroom after seeing two men trying to break in the window.  As Edwards remained on the phone with the Pitt County Communications Center, she could hear the intruders in the residence while waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

Several deputies responded.  Arriving first on the scene, Farmville Central High School’s Resource Officer Justin Dickinson witnessed two males running through the backyard into a field behind the residence.  Dickinson was able to capture one of the suspects while the other was detained by Deputy D.W. Grasha in a wooded area close by.

Deputy Joy Langley noticed a parked vehicle and the driver claimed that it had broken down.  She detained the male while investigating further.

Atkins, DOB: 2/5/1995, of 5096 Greenpine Road in Farmville, Israel Christian Williams, DOB:  3/13/1996, of 3310 North Jefferson Street, Fountain, and the driver of the vehicle, Corey Dixon, DOB:  11/27/1978 of 2202 Myrtlewood Drive, Fountain are all charged with Felony, Breaking and Entering of a Building.
