Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Citizen’s Academy


The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office announces the first PCSO Citizen’s Academy being held from April 5, 2011June 7, 2011.

The Citizens' Academy is a program designed to provide Pitt County residents new insight into how deputy sheriffs and investigators perform their duties, as well as how the department serves the community.

In a classroom setting, often enhanced with field trips and tours, citizens explore various aspects of law enforcement, including Narcotics, Investigations, a mock trial, processing a crime scene, as well as a tour of the Pitt County Detention Center.

Each class provides insight into the challenging tasks and daily functions of the sheriff’s office. Instructors are veteran officers who teach in their own areas of expertise.

Participation in the academy requires a commitment of one night a week, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., for the 10-week period.  Classes are held Tuesday nights. There is no fee for the academy, but space is limited and participants must be 18 or older.
