Returning to the Scene of the Crime

In an Effort to Gather Information

On June 4, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office will return to the scene of last week’s shooting in Fountain in an effort to gather information from the community. Last Tuesday, May 28, between 1:30 and 2:30p.m., Anthony “Chubb” Parker, 35, of 3332 Lynch Street was shot and found in the front yard of his home by a neighbor.

From 1:30 – 2:30p.m., detectives will begin a neighborhood canvas, as well as, a checking station in the Fountain area.  Another canvas and checking station will be conducted between 6 and 7:30p.m.  Both will consist of patrol units and detectives handing out fliers and requesting any information.

Sheriff Neil Elks is inviting the media to participate in these checking stations.  The sheriff has implied that the media is welcome to assist in the canvassing or film from the checking stations.  Also, Sheriff Elks will be available to do LIVE interviews from the victim’s neighborhood at 6p.m.

“As proven in the past, when the media and law enforcement work together to serve the community, goals are accomplished,” Sheriff Elks stated.  “We are still seeking information in this case, and we need the cooperation of community in order to solve this quickly.”
